Vern Peterman, and elder from Holly Hills Bible Church, graciously has been joining us every few months to teach a continuing elective on “How to Study the Bible.” This study has been immensely powerful as we look at the process by which we behold the Lord through his word and are transformed from glory to glory. In this study we have been exploring the major processes or Observation, Interpretation, Application and Appropriation. The Observation consisting of making observations about the Language, History and Culture surrounding the given text, leading to a singular interpretation which must be applied and then appropriated by the believer.
In this series we are going through the book of Revelation from the view point of normal, literal interpretation of Scripture. As our doctrinal statement states, we believe the normal interpretation of Scripture leads to an understanding of the end times that has the church looking forward to the Rapture (the next event in the prophetic timeline) when we will be caught up together to meet with the Lord in the clouds (1 Thess. 4:13-18), after which the Lord’s focus returns to His Chosen People – Isreal, and the seven year Tribulation. Following this the Lord will return physically and in His resurrection body with His saints to establish is 1,000 year reign on the Throne of David. The book of Revelation offers abundant blessing to the believer today. Giving confidence and assurance that the Lord is in control, that our position in the heavenlies is assured (Eph. 2:6), and that Christ could return at any moment for us.

In this four part series we delved into the great riches and immense importance of understanding our Identification with Christ. We saw how we have been identified with Christ in His death, burial, resurrection, ascension and seating at the right hand of the Father. This is core knowledge that every believer must have to more fully understand what Our Lord did for us at the Cross, and is doing in our lives now.
In this series we study the vital need of beholding the Lord Jesus Christ through the word as we are being transformed “from glory to glory”
